Varicose veins are dilated veins due to poor blood circulation. The blood pools in the lower body and distorts the vein walls. Varicose veins occur most often in the form of a blue line under the skin. They can be expanded to the point of forming a relief on the surface of the skin. In the vast majority of cases, varicose veins affecting the superficial veins of the leg (saphenous veins).
