Tooth abscess: Definition

Wednesday, June 8, 2011

A dental abscess is an infection in teeth. Most often caused by a bacterium, the infection usually causes the appearance of pus. The abscess also causes pain, which can be mild or severe. Even if sometimes the pain will happen only very late. Abscesses are located at the end of the tooth root (abscess of endodontic origin) or the tissues of the gums (periodontal abscess). The dental abscess should be treated with the utmost seriousness, not only to ease the pain, but more to avoid complications.
